DIY : Halloween Jack-O'-Lantern Pumpkin : How To Make Salt Dough : Clay Recipe

Salt Dough / Clay Recipe:

2 Cups Flour
1 Cup Salt
3/4 Cup Water

Materials

Paint
Glass Bowls - Dollar Tree
Paint Brush - Dark Orange & Light Orange
Flameless Candles - Dollar Tree

Baking:

Bake Pumpkins for 20 minutes at 275 degrees Fahrenheit, or until dough is hard, and no longer moist.

Miniature Water Bottles - UV Resin Magic Glos (Lisa Pavelka) Tutorial

 

I've been trying to make these mini water bottles for so long, and finally I'm finished!

Initially I used resin to make the bottles, but the resin reacted with the purple mold putty I was using and caused tons of unwanted bubbles. So, I switched to Magic-Glos (after months of going back and forth because of the cost).

Magic-Glos cures in sunlight or with a UV light. I found the Magic-Glos and the UV light at Hobby Lobby. I got the UV light for 1/2 off with the coupon, so YAY!

I added the labels for each bottle above. I made them in Photoshop for fun, so you're free to use them, share, and make your own :)

In N Out in Miniature - Double Double, Cheeseburger, Fries & Milkshake

 

I tried In-N-Out while I was in California visiting family, and I loved it! It didn't taste like the average "fast food" burger and fries. They use cut fresh potatoes, rather than frozen... Everything was fresh and greasy! Hehe :)

 So, of course I was inspired to make a miniature version.

 

MATERIALS USED:

Templates :
Cup (Printed on Cardstock)
Double Double Burger  (Tissue Paper)
Cheeseburger (Tissue Paper)
Fry Container (Cardstock)
Tray Liner (Printer Paper)
In & Out Burger Paper Bag (Printer Paper)

Polymer Clay - Tan, Translucent, White, Bright Green, Red, Brown
Chalk Pastels - Yellow, Orange, Brown, Black
Blade
Glue
Scissors


I started by making the templates in Photoshop. Their basically made up of a bunch of lines and shapes, and of course the In-N-Out Logo, and palm trees.

 Feel free to use and share them :) 

Resizing the templates:

Just copy and paste the templates into a document (Microsoft Word, or Text Edit), then resize them (scaling them to a smaller size). In the video I show the scale I used if you'd like to know, but print a test page with various sizes of each template. I always do this to ensure I'm using the best size for me. Yours can be larger or smaller than mine. In doll terms, this is probably closer to ball joint doll, or maybe a barbie.

Baking the Burgers & Using 3D Paint / Puffy Paint :

I used 3D paint to make the sauce, cheese, and milkshake in the tutorial. 3D paint is the same thing as Fabric paint, Puffy paint, or any dimensional paint. If you use dimensional magic bake the clay first, then add the dimensional magic.

Be sure to let the paint dry fully on the burger before you bake.  Baking it beforehand will cause bubbles.

How To Make Miniature Tropical Fruits & Melons (Polymer Clay) - Cantaloupe, Honey Dew, Watermelon, & Papaya

I realized that my most viewed video (currently) is about fruit, so as a treat I decided to expand on that idea and create some new pieces!

I made all of the fruits with polymer clay, acrylic paint, triple thick glaze, and chalk pastels.

The fruit salad that sits in the watermelon bowl is a mixture of clay chunks, left over strawberries from my Strawberry Shortcake video, and canes (which I have already made tutorials for).

Reese's Ice Cream Sundae - Miniature Polymer Clay & Air Dry Clay Tutorial

I decided to make a ton of "candy" sundaes from Baskin Robbins.. All in miniature of course! :) 

 

The Reese's sundae above is my favorite, mostly because I love Reese's so much!

 

ICE CREAM: I mixed, or rather swirled in tan and brown clay with white clay to make the Reese's Ice Cream. It's very simple, and it's a perfect excuse to use your scrap clay!

NOTE: It's best to use Air Dry Clay when making these because the cups are plastic. If you use polymer clay, back the ingredients (ice cream, candy, and whipped cream) beforehand. 

SAUCE: I mixed Modge Podge Dimensional Magic together with yellow ochre (and a tiny amount of dark brown paint, but this is optional) acrylic paint to make the peanut butter sauce. The Dimensional magic doesn't need to be baked because it dries hard on it's own in about 2-3 hours.

CUPS: The ice cream cups are simply communion cups that you can find at a local Christian Bookstore or online. You can also use plastic shot glasses (Party City has tons), or mini plastic cups (Found some of those are Dollar Tree).

Miniature Oreo Sundae - Baskin Robbins Tutorial

 

I decided to make a ton of "candy" sundaes from Baskin Robbins.. All in miniature of course! :) 

I made 4 in total, and decided not to make them all into videos because the look very similar (lots of browns, yellows, etc)

The Oreo sundae will be the first, and then 2 more videos will follow.
